Despite living only 15 minutes from the city, we decided it would be fun to have an overnight staycation and properly hang out in the CBD. We both work in the heart of Melbourne and often are always just in and out, that we don't ever take the time to really explore our amazing city.

With an absolute abundance of restaurants, shops, cool bars, laneways and things to see and do. We jumped at the opportunity to act like full on tourists, and it was awesome.

Right in the thick of it all, lies Novotel Melbourne on Collins Street. We checked in here for the night and it was seriously in the most perfect spot. So close to absolutely everything and of course had all the amenities we needed. Not to mention the buffet breakfast the next day (sucker for a good breaky) at the Lane Restaurant. Made my own juice at the DIY station and had about 10 hash browns, all about balance.

Something we don't do all that often, is going to see a theatre show. Every time I go see one, I always say we should do this more often! We saw the School of Rock and it was so funny and we were in awe of how talented everyone (especially the kids) were!

The next day we did all our exploring of the city, first stop some retail therapy of course! Wandering down the street from the Novotel, is Collins234 shopping centre. The thing I love most about this little complex, is that it has a boutique feel and isn't overwhelming with too many shops and too many people!

We headed into the biggest Dymocks store I've ever been to, to grab a few books to read over the summer holidays. Then into Indigo Boutique for some summery dresses and then Mollini, for some cute sandals and wedges. Totally sorted for summer!

I'm especially guilty of, on weekends and in summer, to always head down to the coast for some R&R. Sometimes though, it's nice to head into the city and see and do things, you wouldn't normally do. Particularly in the summer, when everyone escapes the city. I think that's the best time to then head in there, less people and less chaos. My kinda vibe.
